MY JOURNEY

Forest Friends Bushcraft & Survival
I am currently working in a local school with children from Reception to Year 6. Sessions are held in the outdoor classroom. I encourage teachers and parent helpers to join in. I plan stimulating and interesting activities, something different every week, based on the school curriculum and learning ojectives for each year.

Outdoor Leader
I use teaching resources such as visual aids and games, which encourage the children to become independent thinkers by using a hands-on approach.

Bushcraft Teacher
Over the last 10 years I have been visiting local schools carrying out hands-on activities such as pond dipping, mini beast safari's and camp fire cooking, which includes understanding health and safety. All activities use the senses and educate children in the outdoor classroom.

Youth Worker
I'm fully trained as a youth worker, I was part of the team at the youth centre for children and teenagers in the local area for nine years. Creating a safe space for them to relax and participate in outdoor activities.

National Trust Warden
I was responsible for managing and enhancing the flora and fauna and educating the local community about environmental issues. Giving guided walks and talks to adults and children, this included activities based on conservation and environmental issues.

Park Ranger
I worked as a Park Ranger managing the upkeep of 45 acres of parkland and woodland. I set up the education department for school visits and local group activities such as; pond dipping, mini beast safari, bat box making and learning about the wildlife around us.

Land and Conservation Management
I studied to become a Park Ranger, focussing on habitat management and how to maintain flora and fauna in order to keep a natural balance between nature and human activities.

Her Majesty's Armed Forces (British Army)
My career began in the Army. I had the opportunity to work around the world and learn all the required skills to survive in different climates in the wild. I taught fellow soldiers how to keep alive in a survival situation and progressed up the ranks.
